Jessica played great, she started out playing Libero and had to move to outside hitter after the first pool on day one because of injuries and did a great job out there the rest of the tournament!

Sun - Colleen Hannigan - had a strong rebound after struggling with her hitting on Saturday - led our team in kills and serve recieve efficiency Overall for the weekend - Megan Santos - reminds me of the energizer bunny - she never stops. She also spread the ball to all of our hitting wonderfully as our team had it's best hitting percentage so far this season(.278). Great job Heather!
Sunday, January 22nd Diablo 16 East - Regan Lindberg - led team with 16 kills, but even more importantly, missed only 4 serves all day. Regan has been putting in lots of xtra time on her serving and attacking, working on her keeping her elbow up and away and leading with her elbow to swing when and we are starting to see great results of her efforts to improve! Diablo 15 Wildfire - Ying Stroebe-Her passing and defense were amazing all day. I finally let her play outside hitter in the last match of the day and she did an outstanding job! Diablo 12 Janet - Stevie Corio - she had 26 ACES and did a great job keeping her team motivated throughout the day. Her experience showed as demonstrated by her good court sense and volleyball IQ. - Diablo 17 Black - Amanda Jarquin: Amanda had 15 kills on the day and hit at a .278%. She also recorded 9 aces, 2 blocks and 8 digs. The team relied on Amanda frequently for offense and she handled the role with ease.
CA Kickoff - January 14-16th - Diablo 16 Black finished tied for 3rd out of 96 teams! We didn't lose a single set until our last match on Monday. It was incredible to see how well the girls got along with each other. Everyone was very positive and never got down on another player for an error. This was and IS critical to success. It was a strong start to the season and gives us something to build off of heading into the qualifiers. Kate Berry - Kate's setting was a huge part of the team's success all weekend. Kate confidently ran plays throughout the tournament helping her hitters gain impressive hitting statistics and accumulating over 100 assists. Her ability to track down a bad pass and always set a hittable ball made Kate an elite setter in the tournament. Great job Kate! Courtney Wisniewski - Courtney was a stellar libero all weekend, but her passing on Sunday is what earned her Player of the Tournament. Courtney locked down almost half of the court with her fantastic passing. This helped ease the pressure on the other passers and forced the opposing teams to serve a smaller area in an attempt (usually unsuccessfully) to avoid Courtney. Congratulations Courtney!
- Diablo 15-Heat finished 16th out of 34 15's teams in the open division. We also served at 89%(only missed 33 out of 293 serves and had 41 aces; Lan-Anh made 48 out of 50.) Jessica Stratton-Stepped into the Libero role and was amazing. Had 45 digs, passed awesome(had 41 perfect passes on 84 attempts and only got aced 7 times), and took charge of the back row with her great communication. Lauren Budde- Had 19 kills and 20 of our teams 51 blocks. She has been working really hard on her hitting and blocking and it has paid off. Keep up the hard work! Heather Reed- Led our team in hitting percentage(.194), assists(74), and was second in digs(27). She also spread the ball to all hitters beautifully, and only missed 5 out of 62 serves with 12 aces.
- Diablo 14 Black: We went undefeated in pool on Sunday and maintained our 4th seed. We went undefeated again in pool Monday morning. We ended up losing in brackets against Five Star in 3 games, so we ended up 13th over all. It was a great weekend!! :) Megan and I both agreed that our POT for Sunday is Isa Thimesch. Hands down! Our pool on Sunday was a little weak, but our last match against Encore should have been a good challenge, but with Isa's awesome defense and offense there really wasn't much of a challenge. :) She made some amazing saves throughout the match, diving all over the court. She definitely found her rhythm hitting too. She was unstoppable. It was great to see. For Monday we have chosen Grace Bolen. She really stepped up as our setter. She made some great decisions and really used all of our hitters throughout each set. She was a great leader on the court, which in turn led to some great wins. Her confidence on the court has improved a ton, and it definitely shows. It will be exciting to see what she can do by the end of the season. :)
Sunday - 1/8/12 - Non-league tournament: Diablo 15 Heat - Sierra Stratton - She led our team in kills (15), blocks (9total), and hitting percentage (.393). She also talked almost every time in transition, letting her setter know where she was. Great job Sierra! Diablo 18 Black - Asleigh Reed - led team in digs, SR %, great vocals on the court, leadership all the time.
Saturday - 1/7/12 - Non-league tournament:
Boys Division - 2011: Sunday - January 8th - 18 Black (director's choice) = Eugen Britvic Saturday - December 10 and 11 Diablo 14 Raiders - The POT from Saturday is Phu-Quy. He had is best day all season! He was serving really well-moving players all around the court. He got many aces throughout the day. He also played great defense. He was diving all over the court. One rally in particular, he served the ball, dug the ball twice, and hit a down ball. One area that Phu-Quy has been working on throughout the season was his serve receive on deep balls. Early on in the season he had a harder time getting his feet all the way behind the ball. This tournament he did a great job adjusting, moving his feet, and passing the deep balls really well. The POT from Sunday is Daniel. We have spent more time working on blocking and serving in the past few weeks. Daniel was able to implement both of these skills into his game on the court right away. He was serving aggressive jump serves (getting many aces), and he stayed persistent with it even after he may have missed one. He also got more touches on blocks. I saw the biggest smile I have seen from Daniel all season after he got a sweet solo-block
Saturday - November 19th Diablo 14 Raiders - Bailey Mundy - He made the switch from setter/opposite to outside hitter for this tournament and did very well! Not only did his on-court play provide consistency and control, but his leadership and attitude was key in the team's success. Bailey has shown a lot of great improvement in his all-around game. This was evident as he played a new position confidently and well. He also jump served to spots well all throughout the day. Diablo 17 Green - Matt Hutchison & Connor French Diablo 18 Green - Collin Lesko
Sunday - October 22nd Diablo 14 Raiders -Mitchell Tang He had a great day! He went on many serving runs with a great float serve that few teams could return. He also took many great swings at the net getting many kills through the day. He has been learning the position of setter this season and did a great job executing the various elements this position entails last weekend! Diablo 17 Green - Ben Savage
Sunday - October 10th Diablo 18 Green - David Cooper Diablo 17 Tool Shed - Derrico Kwa Diablo 17 Green - Ben Savage
Saturday/Sunday - September 24-25th Diablo 17 Green - Grant Hawkins & Charles Liu Diablo 14 Raiders - Tommy Graham was our most consistent player this weekend. He excelled in serve receive and he took aggressive swings out of the front row all throughout both days. While we didn't keep stats from the tournament, we believe he would have a very high hitting percentage if we did because he made very few hitting errors and got many kills for our team. He also went on many serving runs, including starting a third game off 9-0 for us in a pivotal match on day two. He was a great team player and always gave his best! He was a big part of our team keeping our #5 seed all through the weekend :-)
Sunday, September 18th Diablo 14 Raiders - Tournament Winners!!! David Lehman - He did a great job throughout the day. He provided consistent passing and an aggressive swing all day (from both the front and the back row). He also provided a lot of leadership on the court to guys throughout the day. He went on many serving runs as he brought an aggressive and effective serve. And... yesterday was his birthday :-) Diablo 18 Green - Alec Vigil Diablo 17 Green - Sam Higbee
