Thanks for even checking out this portion of the website… This will be my 17th season as director with Diablo and just never have thought to put together my own coaching profile. It is more like a playing/coaching profile and hopefully welcomes you to Diablo Valley Volleyball Club. I am a “local girl” – I was born in San Francisco (way back in the day) and moved to Concord in 2nd grade. I attended Clayton Valley High School (Go Ugly Eagles) and played volleyball & basketball all four years.
Clayton Valley - Volleyball - 3.5 years varsity - 3 years team captain - 3 years MVP - 3 years All-League - All County Team - senior year I have been soooo blessed by playing at a time where I had really incredible teammates and good coaching. If you ever have a tournament at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill and see the banner on the wall from 1988 (the only volleyball banner in the gym) it was from my 2nd year at DVC. We took the league and went to the State Championships. Diablo Valley College - Volleyball - 2 years team captain - 2 years MVP - All-Tournament Teams - All League Team From DVC, I was recruited to play at Humboldt State. If you are ever way up in the northern part of California and want to stop by HSU you can see my Hall of Fame photo on the wall leading up to the gym… Humboldt State - Volleyball - 2 years team captain - 2 years MVP - All-Tournament Teams - All League Team - Inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame - October, 1997 My two seasons at HSU - I was so lucky enough to be part of the two best volleyball records that the school has had to date: 1st year - 1989: 19-13 2nd year - 1990: 31-7 This was a huge finish to my own volleyball playing career * 2nd in Assists in the nation for NCAA Division II setters with 12.2 assists per game. HSU is located in such a great little town that we would have a packed house full of AMAZING fans from the local area – guys from the basketball team would come with painted faces to cheer us on and the HSU marching band followed us to a few various events, it was incredible! When I was done playing at HSU – my older sister Cathie was having her first child Hillary (who is now 19) and I knew that I wanted to come back to the Bay Area to be closer to family. I moved home in the summer of 1991, began classes at Cal State Hayward and took over the job of head varsity volleyball coach where my sister Janet was finishing up coaching at our alma mater – Clayton Valley High School. Janet got me “hooked” on coaching volleyball and I have been coaching full-time ever since - it is so cool that we are still working together after all these years! Volleyball Coaching Experience: I played basketball at DVC’s “sister school” Los Medanos College in Pittsburg where I met the Pittsburg HS coach and she asked me to help out her team… 1988 - Assistant Coach - Pittsburg High School Boys Varsity Volleyball 1991- Co-Coach - Redwood Volleyball Club 18-1 1991 ~ 1995 - Clayton Valley High School - Varsity Girls Volleyball 1991 ~ 1996 - Clayton Valley Junior Varsity Girls Basketball 1992 ~ 1996 - Clayton Valley Varsity Boys Volleyball 1994 ~ Present - Began coaching at Diablo Valley Volleyball Club 1994 - Tricia was born!!!! 1995 ~ Present - Began as full-time director of Diablo Valley Volleyball Club I guess I could list all of the club teams I have coached for Diablo – it would take lots of sheets of paper. I have basically coached every possible power and area league level team in our club in both the boys and girls divisions – and have worked with players from ages 8-18… I love the kids and really enjoy watching them improve and grow both on and off the court! 1996 ~ 1999 - Acalanes High School Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball 1996 - Graduated from Cal State Hayward 1996 - Married Sean!!! 1997 ~ 2000 - Acalanes High School Junior Varsity Boys Volleyball 1998 - Jessica was born!!! 2002 ~ 2005 - De la Salle Junior Varsity Boys Volleyball 2007 ~ Present - San Ramon High School Junior Varsity Boys Volleyball Family is a huge part of my life and hopefully you get the “family atmosphere” feeling when you attend our summer clinics and/or play for one of our boys or girls division teams. I try to learn everyone’s name as soon as possible (within the first 2-3 hours of a clinic) and do my best to cheer everyone on at the various tournaments. On a side note - most of you may not believe it but, I am TOTALLY shy… You will see me get intense in the games, wacky with the girls/boys at the clinics, crazy on the court when I am coaching and loud on the sidelines when I am cheering but, when it comes to talking one on one especially with the parents I feel super shy/quiet. If you see me with a book in my hand at a tournament, don’t hesitate to come up to me - I would love to get to know you better!!! We have GREAT coaches who are extremely dedicated and have been with the Diablo program for years – I feel that they are not only coaches but, friends - some of our coaches truly feel like family to us as well. We again, feel just incredibly blessed to be part of such a great organization and hope that you will enjoy your Diablo experience! GO DIABLO!!!! |
