Volleyball has been such a huge part of my life and the people and experiences that I have had because of this game are ones that I will never forget and that I can't imagine my life without.I am a Diablo Valley VBC alumnus and I started coaching here in 2003 during the boys JO's season. I have been coaching club now for seven years for girls and 4 years for boys along with multiple high schools coaching jobs. I played for four years in high school at Northgate High School and I played four years of club volleyball in college although my favorite type of volleyball is grass doubles which I play during the summbers.A big part of my coaching style involves the mental aspect of volleyball. It is my belieft that you can have great skills and still not be even a good player if you don't have a good volleyball mind. I am very big on making sure my players know exactly why I am teaching them what I am teaching them because if they are only doing it because I say so, then they don't truly understand the game. So I spend a lot of time asking my players questions about different situations and then explaining everthing as it come up so that each player can know not only how to handle things in their position, but in all positions on the court. As my current and former players will tell you, I hate ugly volleyball. I believe no matter what a team of individuals skill level that they game should be taught and played correctly and not modified for any certain level of play and with that there will be more improvement in that team and those individuals then for those teams whose coach lets them just hit the ball back over on one hit every time. I think that parents are making a huge commitment money wise, players are making a huge commitment time wise, and I am making a huge commitment time wise and it would be a waste of all our time and money if I let my and team play "ugly" volleyball. My goal each and every season is to provide team and personal instruction in a manner that promotes individual and team improvement and success. I try to impart upon each of my players my love of this game and provide them with a fun and positive volleyball experience that will make them want to come back for more. I look forward to every season and the new challenges and successes each will bring."
